Writing captions that read well
Short captions work best: GIFs loop quickly and viewers often see them small in a chat. Keep it to one line per position where possible, use uppercase for the classic meme look, and keep the outline on — white text with a black outline is readable on any background. Size 10–14% of the GIF height suits most reaction GIFs.
If the subject’s face sits where the caption goes, crop or resize to make room, or caption only the bottom.
Making a meme GIF from scratch
Start from a clip with Video to GIF (or record your screen), trim it to the punchline, caption it here, then compress it so it uploads anywhere. For extra flair, add a filter or a rainbow effect.
