Convert GIF to TIFF

GIF to TIFF converts an animated GIF into a TIFF image: either a multi-page TIFF with one page per frame, or a single page from the frame you choose. Pages are stored losslessly as 8-bit RGB (or RGBA when the GIF has transparency), compressed with Deflate or left uncompressed for maximum compatibility with older readers.

When TIFF is the right target

TIFF is the standard interchange format for print, publishing, scientific imaging and archives. Converting a GIF’s frames to a multi-page TIFF is useful for importing an animation into tools that expect page sequences — document management systems, OCR and fax software, image-analysis tools, or print layouts.

Both compression options are lossless. Deflate (Adobe-style zlib) is understood by Photoshop, GIMP, Affinity, macOS Preview and libtiff-based tools; choose None only for very old or specialised software, as files will be much larger.

Coming from TIFF? TIFF to GIF animates multi-page TIFFs. For documents, GIF to PDF is more portable; for web use, GIF to PNG produces a smaller lossless still.

Features

  • Multi-page output

Each frame becomes a page with correct page numbering.

Exact pixels; nothing is recompressed lossily.

Transparent GIFs produce RGBA pages with unassociated alpha.

  • Compatibility choice

Deflate for size, None for legacy software.

GIF to TIFF FAQ

How do I convert a GIF to TIFF?

Upload the GIF, choose whether to save every frame as a page or a single frame, pick the compression and click Convert to TIFF.

Can TIFF hold an animated GIF?

TIFF doesn’t animate, but it can store many pages. Each GIF frame becomes one page of a multi-page TIFF.

Which compression should I choose?

Deflate gives smaller files and is widely supported. Choose None if the TIFF will be opened by old or specialised software.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. GifRush processes everything locally in your browser using JavaScript, Canvas, Web Workers and WebCodecs. Your files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
